Rotary District 9910 has joined the North Shore Hospital Foundation in a formal partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. This agreement sees the 2 groups working together on special projects that will benefit all those from our communities who have contact with the Hospital.



Devonport Rotary Club
Club president presents incubator and medical equipment for Emergency Care Center
Devonport Rotary Club has made a significant donation of $ 40,000 to the North Shore Hospital Foundation with proceeds gathered at their extremely successful Devonport Wine and Food Festival. This donation will go towards projects the club has specified.



Takapuna North Rotary Club
Takapuna North Rotary Club has donated funds to provide lazy boy chairs to the Coronary Care Unit to increase patient comforts.



Browns Bay Rotary Club
A Gatsby Garden Party in the spectacular grounds of the Waitoki Lavendar Farm provided funds for the Cardiac Unit.
Rows of shade pergolas set for high tea. Wentworth Brewster, led by crooner Grant Chilcott entertained and a magnificent display of vintage cars completed the effect.
A fashion parade including members of the Auckland Art Deco Society saw fashion from yester year on display.
Gatsby Garden Party
The Club also contributed to the Cardiac project 2008 after competing in a fundraising walk. March 8 2009 will see the Gatsby Garden Party event benefit the “Home Care 4 Kids “project.

March 2009 saw a spectacular afternoon event in a beautiful setting with Jazz, fashion, artisan markets and high tea at Waitoki Lavender Farm. The Gatsby event 09 benefitted the home Care 4 Kids project to create a loan service for children recovering in their homes.



Milford Rotary Club

2011: A Paediatric designated emergency area opened in the new Lakeview Development. A superbly decorated child waiting area with wall murals depicting local Takapuna Beach has been provided by the Rotary Club of Milford. The donation includes play equipment and television to keep small minds occupied while they await treatment.


The Milford club was the first Rotary Club in the 9910 district to contribute to the cardiac campaign to provide advanced cardiac investigation & treatment services to the Waitemata district.
Hard work over many weekends has seen Milford Rotary Club create a healthy garden for the enjoyment and therapy of the mental health consumers at the Taharoto Unit. A beautiful private area filled wih seating and boxed vegetable gardens will enable the consumers to grow vegetables and fruits.
Planting has also taken place inside the secure courtyard of the unit.
The Milford Club held their annual golf day at the Pupuke Club and presented the raised funds to support the Cardiovascular Unit.

Milford Rotary successfully organised two golf days and a raft of corporate sponsors to provide hugely successful events and a sizeable donation towards the cardiac unit advanced medical equipment project.
The unit which opened in November 2007 and has just treated its 1,000th patient is fundraising to provide an extended service of CT (computerised tomography) angiography. This equipment comes at he large cost of over $200,000.
Available only in private practice, acquiring this service will place North Shore Hospital as the only public hospital in the region to provide it to its patients.
This will make Cardio Vascular services at Waitemata the premier cardiac public service
Major supporters for the $38,000 donation were, Ocean Bridge, Smales Farm Technology Park, Smith & Davies, Maritimo Offshore, Clearlite, Electronic Navigation, Cookson Boats, Peter Maire, Kea Properties.

2009/2010: The Milford Club continues its support for their local hospital holding working bees to maintain the Healing Gardens at the North Shore site. 2010 brought a further donation to the Cardiac CT project from their Centurion capital campaign fund

Orewa Rotary Club
The Rotary Club of Orewa/ Laurie Parker Trust joined other clubs in the district with a contribution to assist in providing and advanced cardiac investigation & treatment unit at North Shore Hospital.

2008, The Orewa team continue to support the Cardiac project to establish a CT angiography service at North Shore Hospital. (Image Merv Huxford in CVU) As administrators of the Laurie Parker Trust they have also sponsored production of a new patient educational DVD in partnership with the Foundation and medTV.™ The “Take Heart “DVD is the first cardiac rehabilitation DVD to be made in New Zealand for 15 years and takes a fresh look at Heart Attack, Angina, what happens when you are in hospital and provides an educational tool for recovery and lifestyle advice for sufferers and their families in the community.

The DVD is shown to all patients suffering cardiac incidents before they leave hospital by the Cardiac Nurse Specialists and is also available to GPs, PHO’s and allied health professionals as an educational tool Included in the content are the variety of diagnostic testing procedures involved with establishing good diagnosis such as exercise testing, Cardiac Echo, Angiography and Angioplasty


Albany Rotary Club
Club president presents general manager with $10,000
Albany Rotary Club held a most successful Charity Dinner and Auction.

Every two years this spectacular fundraising event is held by the Albany Rotary Club. This year a portion of the funds have been dedicated to the Home Care 4 Kids medical equipment loan service project.

The gardens on display were Brookgreen, 15 Goldflats Rd; Mincher, 338 Coatesville Riverhead Highway; Pinelee, 21 Coatesville Heights; Twin Lakes, 83 Sunnyside Road and Woodbridge, 36 Glenmore Road.

Glenfield Rotary Club
The Glenfield Rotary Club supports the Cardiac Unit campaign and has held several events to fundraise including a very interesting Wine Tasting and Education with Rotarian Tony Soljan.


North Harbour Rotary Club
The Annual Giltrap Charity Auction for 2007 provided a very enjoyable evening and successful auction which enabled the North Harbour Club to donate $20,000 to the Cardiovascular Unit.

2010: The Rotary Club of North Harbour together with Harcourts Cooper & Co Ltd presented a spectacular charity event recently at the AMI netball Centre in Northcote. A full house attended the exciting event with hundreds of fabulous prizes on show and ready for Auction

The project chosen to benefit was for purchase of an incubator with accessories to ensure the demand for incubator occupancy is increased at the Special Care Baby Unit at North Shore Hospital.

Northcote Rotary
Northern Bus way Opening Charity walk A charity walk/ cycle in partnership with Northcote Rotary Club celebrated the opening of the $3million Northern Bus way transit system on Feb 2008. Volunteer collectors including families of staff who enthusiastically took part complete with wings and halos The Home care 4 Kids project is fundraising for the establishment of an equipment loan service and to provide 4 wheel drive vehicles to assist in the service delivery of children’s care at home across the region The charity walk raised $2,500 for this great cause


East Coast Bays Rotary Club

East Coast Bays Rotary Club hold an annual Charity Golf Day - 'Drive 4 Life' - in support of the hospital. East Coast Bays is also responsible for providing a 'Te Waimarama Garden' at the main entrance to the hospital site for the public. This beautiful garden, with a central water feature, is designed to provide its nautilus shaped design when viewed from hospital above.

2008: the 7th annual Drive 4 Life charity golf day took place. This is the second time that East Coast Bays team has contributed to the goal of providing funds to “Make Dreams Real” for the Home Care 4 Kids project.

2009: The 8th Drive 4 Life Charity Golf Day once again benefitted the hospitals Home Care 4 Kids project with a donation of $10,000 towards the medical loan programme. The Rotary Club of East Coast Bays is the major sponsor of this programme with its total contribution at $20,000.

February 2011 Birkenhead Rotary combined with The Birkenhead Bowling Club & The Birkenhead RSA to play Charity Bowls for the benefit of cardiac services at North Shore Hospital. A brilliant day and an excellent turnout saw around $6,200 raised for the hospital Foundation
