Project Requests

There is a vast range of requests constantly submitted to the foundation from staff and all hospital areas have "wish lists" for items that are deemed to be "above the line". The foundation works hard to identify sponsors and encourage donations to make the health environment more comfortable and attractive for all that have contact with it. Current Major Projects requests include:

"The Heart of the Community"
Fundraising is now underway to provide for extending the services even more. With the construction of a second Catheter Laboratory in progress and the recent acquisition of Rotoblator equipment, the focus has moved to assist in acquiring new specialised cardiac software solutions to assist cardiac emergencies in transit to hospital care
The Messenger project-this software application will allow direct communication between pre hospital teams dealing cardiac emergency patients in transit and cardiology specialists. This sophisticated solution allows monitoring of physical signs to be transmitted real time to specialists who a can order treatment to commence immediately, making a huge difference in improving recovery outcomes. Fundraising goal: $80K
The fundraising for this project is ongoing with a new target to provide a CT (Computerised Tomography) angiography unit at North Shore. This would assist clinicians in the move towards non invasive cardiac interventions
The fundraising goal for this equipment is $250,000

The first stage of the cardiac campaign was completed in November 2007 with the opening of the Cardio Vascular Unit, catheterization laboratory.

Knowledge & Conference Centre
This facility will provide teaching and conference space for health professionals and link the hospital to the global technologies involved in clinical care and research.

Home Care for Kids (HC4Kids)
To provide a bank of loan medical equipment to facilitate care for sick and rehabilitating children in their own homes. The specialised service oversees care for children with long term disorders, those rehabilitating after major illness or injury and palliative care for the young.

Pump 4 Freedom
This project for Diabetes Services is to provide a bank of loan insulin pumps to assist adolescent diabetics transition to using these advanced medical devices. Each pump will be loaned for a specified period of time to enable assessment of impact on the busy life activities of teenage diabetics. This time frame will also allow families/carers to consider ways to financially acquire these pumps for ongoing care.
