International Aid

2009; The foundation combined with Rotary Districts 9910 & 9920 along with the International Community Service programme sending a large shipment- enough to fill a 20 tonne container of medical equipment to SantoVanuatu

The shipment included medical consumables, patient monitors, mobility equipment and a fully integrated Coronary Care patient physiological monitoring system

The foundation has a very active International Aid Programme and is partnered with Rotary District 9910, Medicines Mondiale and Bright Eyes Plantation(Africa) in projects to make available and ship surplus medical equipment, furnishings and consumables around the globe.

Specific areas that have received assistance from the Foundation are Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga, Samoa, Nepal, India and Mozambique.

Surplus equipment is accrued as refurbishment and replacement cycles of aging equipment occur within the health organisation's normal business cycle and with the requirements to update technology.

2006 Rotary District 9910 International Community Project has included a new relationship with the rotary club of Tavenui Island in the Fiji group. Rotary has facilitated the establishment and staffing of a hospital on the island. A shipment of surplus medical consumables, equipment and uniforms has been sent and future shipments are intended to help with their ambitious plan of improving the health of the Islanders.

A second very large shipment of medical consumables and equipment including 10 pieces of high end medical monitoring equipment was sent to Tavenui Rotary Hospital in July. The Foundation co-ordinated aquiring these monitors from hospital, medical centres, specialist rooms with the help of the team from MedXus, an NZ medical distributer. The Tavenui Hospital has now completed two major surgical intervention projects with assistance from NZ surgical teams and provided both cataract surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery for the International Cleft Programme.
