With about 515,000 people in its catchment it is the largest employer in the North Shore region. Extensive medical, surgical, acute orthopaedics,intensive care,high dependency,cardio vascular unit,coronory care, maternity, mental health, and community and disability services are all provided from the hospital site. The hospital is also a teaching facility with a well-established and highly respected research programme.
